Welcome to Physical Science 2014-2015
What is Physical Science?
Physical Science is an introductory 9th grade course involving a practical study of the relationship between matter and energy. Development of good, safe laboratory skills, the ability to solve mathematical word problems, and an understanding of forces and motion are stressed. The three major topics include elementary physics concepts, earth science and space science. Students will be required to use the scientific method in analyzing observations and data including making graphs and drawing conclusions. Writing is an integral part of the course especially in generating lab reports and end of the year assessments. Engineering tasks will be completed throughout the year as well.

- How are the different types of motion of an object affected by the forces acting upon it?
- How do factors/forces cause change in the Earth’s surface over time?
- How is the Earth affected by its position in the solar system?
- How do the principles of physical science explain the origin, evolution and composition of the universe?
